Chazen started working with the Town of Stillwater in 2013 to craft a plan to breathe new life into Brown’s Beach, a 7.3-acre waterfront property, to provide the residents and area tourists with what is the only public beach access on Saratoga Lake.
男朋为什么在被窝里吃我的胸The proposed improvements included restoration of the existing restaurant/B&B, construction of a new concession building with bathroom facilities, a new open-air waterfront pavilion, restoration of the existing marina, provisions for public access and parking, and restoration of the beach and bathing area.
With an extensive and costly amount of redevelopment needed, and direct costs to the taxpayers to consider, the Town sought to implement a phased construction process that focused on maximizing the value of construction. With a delicate balance of professional design, planning, permitting and engineering assistance by Chazen, combined with privately donated and Town-supplied labor and materials, the Town rebuilt Brown’s Beach in a collaborative, cost-effective manner within a compressed timeline versus traditional design-bid-build methods.
The Town was also creative in devising a long-term management approach for the property, procuring private for-profit operators for the restaurant/B&B and marina while maintaining a Town commitment for property maintenance and beach operations. This sustainable operations approach balances revenue generations with tax-burden implications to ensure that Saratoga Lake’s only public bathing area remains that way for generations to come. Brown’s Beach was officially opened to the public in May of 2015!
